Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation Review

Hi everyone my school break has just started to kick in and you know what that means? It's time for another review! When it comes to makeup, each and every one of us has our own favorites. I am the base type of person, meaning I can do away without eyeliners/shadows/mascara, blush, and lipstick but I cannot just leave without foundation. Having a perfect face canvass for me is the most important step to incorporate in my usual routine. Foundation alone can make pale, lifeless face appear fresh! And I am here to share with you my recent foundation discovery. The new Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation.

I personally have never tried the more popular liquid colorstay so I cannot gauge on their difference. But I have tried MAC Studio Fix Fluid which is what most people say that the liquid colorstay is similar to, and I didn't like it. Well moving on to the whipped creme foundation, I have to say that after trying this out, I was impressed and it immediately took over Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid Foundation's spot as my favorite makeup foundation. Now let's move on to the technicals first.

Packaging:
I have to say that the packaging is quite annoying. It is messy when you open it and it just practically gets all over the place. The tub-like packaging is also unhygienic as it induces double-dipping. But of course as with any tub sort of packaging, this could easily be remedied by using a spatula to get the product out. I must say that this isn't the most travel-friendly foundation. If you are bringing this with you to a trip, make sure it stands upright.

Color and Consistency:
For reference, I use the shade Warm Golden and I am NC35 in MAC, or for those of you who don't know their shade in MAC, I am simply morena that is on the medium side rather than dark :) as with consistency, it fluffy and thick but easily blendable so you won't have to worry about applying it quickly.

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation in Warm Golden
Now on the part where I praise it for all its glories. First of all, this has got to be the best shade that I have ever been matched with and to tell you the truth, I didn't bother asking the sales assistants because they will always give me the wrong shade. So if you want a close-to-perfect shade, match yourself and don't ever rely on sales assistants. I like the fact that even if I have oily and acidic skin, this doesn't turn orange on me unlike MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I usually get half a shade or one shade lighter for foundation because of the fact the my skin is acidic but with this one, even if I didn't get a shade lighter, it doesn't oxidize extremely given the condition of my skin.

Finish and Staying Power:
This foundation has a very nice dewy finish and I literally mean dewy enough that I could practically skip on my favorite highlighter (but of course I still can't do that :p) because it gives my face a healthy glow. Even if you set if with powder, the finish is really wonderful.

One of my favorite things about it is that it doesn't make me oily that fast compared to some foundations. What I notice is that after I get oily, my face still looks ridiculously nice instead of the usual gross greasy mess. This was a definite thumbs up for me.

I have to say that it takes me a minimum of 6 hours before I start to blot my face out and this is only if you weren't exposed to humidity, pollution, and did intense physical activities. This has relatively good staying power.

Application and Coverage:
In terms of coverage, I guess it depends on how you apply it. But I have to say it's medium to buildable. My favorite way of applying it is with my Real Techniques Stippling brush. I spread some foundation into my face using my fingers and then blend with a legit stippling motion. It is time-consuming but I tell you, it gives the most natural flawless finish ever compared with using a sponge or your bare fingers. This method of application doesn't alter the fact it stays put on your face practically for half a day. As with coverage, it was able to cover a whole lot of my blemishes mainly from my hyper-pigmentation and post-acne marks, with just one layer. As for the area under my eye, I have separate concealer for that so I don't use this for that purpose. But it does take away a little bit of darkness under the eyes.

Conclusion:
Overall, you could already probably tell that I am currently in love with this foundation. It's a no-fuss product, it stays put for hours, doesn't oxidize to a scary orange color, doesn't make me oily, has good amount of coverage that gives a natural demi-matte finish, and so-far didn't give me any break-outs so I am quite pleased with this foundation. Will I recommend this? YES. Especially for NC35's out there and for those who want the most natural looking finish. Will I repurchase this? Well, I am the type who likes trying out different foundations first before I re-purchase. But if all else fails, then heck yes I am definitely going to repurchase this.

Where to buy and how much:
I bought mine at Landmark Department Store for only 975 pesos. Pretty affordable! :)

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5 <3

Great review. I move between NC 30 to NC 37, this might work for me.

Unfortunately, when I went to a revlon booth at watsons, they only have the lighter ones.

@Rae

Thankyou :) Warm golden is a good match for NC35.

And don't buy them at watson's or SM. I don't know what it is with SM department store (and watson's alike) but they don't show their testers and actual whipped creame foundations at their counters. It has been released two weeks ago and they still hold their stocks behind their shelves (i saw it at SM north they hid their testers at the back of their counter, which just pissed me off a little bit)

Buy at Landmark department store. Friendlier staff and has all the shades in stock. Although you might want to hurry as a product in demand will only mean that you're less likely to scour your shade. Best of luck to you! :)

Thanks for the tip. Thinking of trying out some makeup brushes there anyways.
